I hate walking down the hall of my dorm and not knowing like ANYONE. I hate walking into the caf and looking around and not recognizing like ANYONE. I know both of these will change eventually but I can't wait for these first few weeks to be done just so faces start to look familiar.

Being back has been really good in other ways though. Getting to see a lot of people that I really missed over the summer. Having people on the floor that I DO recognize and LOVE that they are still here. Getting to set up our room again and making it feel like home. So in the end, I guess the good out weighs the bad.

My only question is, why do maintenance guys think that it is ok to come onto our floor at 10:15 in the morning? Clearly, since there are no classes yet, there will be girls getting ready for the day. Jess and I happened to be one of the rooms that they were going to to retrieve extra bed pieces so just my luck, when I walked out of the bathroom in the shower...there were two guys at the end of the hall walking into my room. SWEET... NOT. Luckily a friend's room was close so I slipped in there for a bit..but SERIOUSLY. That is not ok. And it's an hour later and I just heard the two guys working next door and talking about their girl problems. STILL NOT OK.

Did our first run back at school this morning. HOT. Luckily it was only 4 miles. Not looking forward to 9 on saturday...or sunday..or whenever we do it. O well!

Mandatory CE retreat this weekend that I'm actually somewhat looking forward to. I keep seeing friends from CE on campus and we don't have enough time to catch up just then so I know a lot of that will happen this week.

I'm really excited for the semester. I know God has a lot in store for me and I just pray that I won't miss Him! And that I will be open to anything he has to teach me. Wow, that's scary. But still something I gotta pray for.

I'm hungry...off to the unfamiliar faces at the caf....

Random

So it's November 13th. and the projected forcast for the weekend? 93! That is NOT how it's supposed to be! I realized this morning that I'm going to have the hottest weather I've ever had on my birthday..probably will be around 80's I'm guess..and since this is my first birthday away from home..SAD DAY...then the temperature difference would make sense. But ya.. those were my thoughts on the elliptical this morning.

I'm sick of politics.

Tomorrow night is our 3rd intermural football game. And probably our last. Ha. o well, it was fun when we did get to play and we got sweet blue barracuda shirts out of the deal so I guess I can't complain too much.

Next week we have tickets for the price is right. I'm pretty excited. There is only 4 or 5 of us going tho so it's not like we're gonna make shirts and go all out. We'll probably spend 4 hours standing in line to watch drew carey try and do what only bob barker could. O well, it still should be fun. And you never know, it could happen.

Weather, Politics and Football

I love the weather right now.
I mean, it's not like a minnesota fall, which I am craving big time, but it is the next best thing. At least in the mornings it has been cool enough that I have to wear a sweatshirt. The afternoons are a different story but I am rarely outside at that point because I'm working or working on homework.

But tomorrow I will be in nashville and it's supposed to rain! so I'm very much looking forward to that. And of course to see my family! all but sarah :( Gumbo for dinner! o how I have longed for it.

I tried to watch the vice presidential debate on sunday on the internet with some friends. I thought I'd give it a try because I should get caught up on what's going on. All watching it did for me was re-inforce the fact that I get bored with politics. I fell asleep like 20 minutes in. I figure if something important happens I will hear about it on the news or...the only news I get which is whatever pops up on the msn homepage. Ha.

I have a class monday nights so I wasn't able to watch the vikings beat the saints last night. I did use the play by play on espn.com until we broke into groups in my class and I was away from my computer. Little did I know that I was missing like the most intense part of the game! O well, sports center filled me in this morning when I was on the elliptical. Looked like an intense game all around. Wish I could have watched it. 2-3 and playing the lions next week who are 0-4...could the vikings actually get above 500? never thought I'd see that this year.

Tuesdays and the Twins

Tuesdays used to be my favorite day of the week.

* I don't have class till noon
* I would wake up, have some time with God, work out and have a leisurly morning
*No class after 1:15
* The day I could slack off and still get a lot of homework done because that's how much time I actually had free.

So now I have this job. 12 hours a week. And since I have to get my hours in somewhere I decided to write down that I can work from 1:15-5:30ish every tuesday. Shoot me now. Actually it won't be that bad. I get to listen to my ipod the whole time if I want. I downloaded a sermon last night by Mark Driscoll..recommended to me recently..and it's an hour long. That'll make the time go faster

And then at 4:30 the twins game is on. I'll try to find ESPN radio online and listen to it. Otherwise I'll just keep getting updates on espn.com. There's this weird thing that it gives you the play by play so you're kinda "watching" the game but not really. O well, it's all I get when I live in California and no one here cares about the Vikings or the Twins. Anyway, I hope they can pull out the win. Working out in the fitness center on Tuesdays and Thursdays is when I get updated on the world of sports. The game was one of the bigger stories this morning on Sports Center. Apparently the twins have out beat the white sox 10-8 this season. We'll see if they can pull out another win.

Apparently, according to a quiz my cousin sent me, I am supposed to vote for Obama. Who would have thunk.

Indescribable

So for some reason Jess and I decided to start waking up early on mondays, wednesdays and fridays to run. As much as I really despise when the alarm goes off, it is a great way to start the day. In Minnesota I would probably have to get pretty bundled up in the morning to run. A long sleeve shirt at least. But not in lovely California. By 6:15 it was at least 70. Good running weather anyway.

So let me preface this story by saying that it never rains here. Never. It rained I think twice all last school year and people FREAK OUT.

So this morning..as I was making my way around the track..which is a crappy place to run I know..I saw lightning and clouds of rain to the north. I thought it was pretty sweet and was starting to hope that it would move in our direction. Nothin like a good thunderstorm. As I was running around in circles aimlessly..literally..I realized that my wish wasn't going to come true.

Jess runs a mile more than I do so I usually spend my extra time walking around the track. But not today. I sat on a bench and watched the view which God had set before me. To my front right was an orangle group of clouds with random lightening and you could see the rain falling. To the left was the sun behind a group of clouds. Seeing the suns rays through the clouds is one of my favorite things and at that moment the rays were pointing directly onto the rain storm. Loved it. I turned on some worship music and decided to praise God for this gift he had given me this morning.

I put on the song indescribable by Chris Tomlin. It seemed fitting. Right as the line "who has told every lightening bolt where it should go" came I turned my head farther to my left..past the rays of sun and saw a lightening bolt at that exact moment. Wow. I realized that in that moment God was trying to show me something. Besides the amazing gift, he was telling me, Abby, I am more than that song you are listening to. I am legit. I am the real deal. I DO tell the lightning bolts where to go and I have set this sight before you right now.

I didn't want to forget this moment and that's why I'm sharing with you. Look for those gifts from God that we so often take for granted.

I was then thankful that the rain hadn't made it to us.

AHHH!!!! :D

So pretty sure the last month has flown by SO fast. I've been working lots, went and came back from Detroit, chillin out with some peeps, and gettin stuff wrapped up for leavin...on Saturday!
I'm SO excited by the way!
Saturday morning my dad and I are leaving good ol brainerd, Mn at 5 am. Hopefully I'll sleep until we're out of minnesota and then take over some driving. We've got to make it to denver by that night. Which is totally doable. It's only like a 15 or 16 hour drive. So we'll get to the hotel at a somewhat decent time and probably watch a movie or something. a Little fatherly daughter bonding time. haha. how cute.
Then sunday morning I'll be leaving the hotel in Denver at like 8:30 to go to Jess's house in montrose!! It's like 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive. I think I can handle that drive by myself ha but through the mountains when I've never driven in Colorado before? Be praying for me! ha. o well., not too worried! So then I get to see Jess that day!! WOO!! I'm SO excited:D
Spending the week that week at the Pugh residence:) I'm SO excited. Then we're on our way to Cali on Friday the 22nd. Not to school till Saturday though and movin in everything then!
wow I am SO pumped! ha.

Anyway..gotta get through this week first. Starting with golfing with my dad today:)
It will be a really full week tho between visiting my grandparents, going out to coffee with at least 3 different people, a movie night, packing, and hanging out with my parents! All sweet stuff :D. o, and chels's post reminded me I have to register for voting too :s

Work..or no work I guess :s

I can't believe I leave 5 weeks from TODAY. SO pumped I can't even stand it :) but I know I have a lot to do before that day so I better get my butt in gear. ha.

So I work for my dad laying carpet as you know...but the problem with that is we can't work if we don't have any! this past week we only had 3 days of work and then this next week we got nothin so far! Man, it sucks cuz I'm not making as much money this summer as I thought I would be. I'm getting a few photography jobs here and there to keep me busy tho I guess. I took a family of 19's pics last tuesday and then a grad shoot today. That will make up for the lack of money from laying carpet for this week anyway.

I leave next friday for detroit. I'm pumped:) but I have to get all of my online homework completed before then because the classes end the next tuesday. It will such a relief to be done with all of that! talk about really being able to enjoy summer. not that I haven't, but I'll be able to not have to worry about it anyway. I'm glad I took both classes tho. Especially if i'm trying to graduate a year early...!!

But who knows about that. God is the one who does and until he tells me otherwise that's what I'm gonna stick with I guess.

Have I mentioned I'm ready to be back at school yet?

Fender Bender

I got my credit card in the mail today! it's bomb:) ha now I'm gonna go buy a new camera. I was gonna wait till I finished doing all my photo appointments for the summer...but why wait till then? right? I'm excited cuz then I can use it this weekend for the 4th! WOO!!

My brother and my sister come home wednesday! It's gonna be such a great weekend. I have to work all day wednesday and then in the morning on thursday too but then nothin but hanging out with the fam! Friday we're gonna spend the day on the lake. I can't WAIT! I got a new swim suite just for the occasion :) Well, actually I just got a top..but that's the hardest part to find I figured so I guess I'll hopefully find a bottom before then. otherwise it'll be me out there tubing with my basketball shorts. Weird, right? Ha, NOT. I'm sure you all wouldn't have guessed any different.

Only three weeks left of classes. SO ready to be done with them. Then I get my REAL summer. Supposedly anyway :p

I leave for Detroit in less than 3 weeks. Man I hope it's a good trip. What am I saying..it's gonna be a GREAT trip. God is amazing and I know he can do anything. It will be way weird being a leader..but I'm pumped anyway. I'm so glad I'm not 25...because then I'd have to drive one of the 15 passenger vans full of students. NOT ok with me! So I'll just get automatic shotgun every time which is SAWEET considering me and my lovely car sickness issue. Bleh.

Ok, but speaking of driving.. I was in a fender bender last week in my dads work van. It's one of those big white extended ones that cool carpet people drive around. Anyway, it was my fault but no worries, no one was hurt and like zero damage. Although the ladies insurance agency keeps calling me to get a statement about the accident. Don't worry, I call them back and leave a message. but they keep calling me on my house phone when in my message i said to call my cell. O well. Not looking forward to talking to them but I guess it's what I get. Gotta do what you gotta do.

homework and credit cards

WHOA! I know..2 days in a row! Ha crazy stuff!
Well, just finished the majority of my homework..and it actually didn't take me all day! which is sweet. I just have a little bit left. I can't believe that I'm already half way done with my summer classes. which means we're more than 4 weeks into summer! SO weird.

So I played tennis and mowed the lawn today just like I thought I would.

But something exciting I did was apply for a credit card! I already have one but the credit limit is so limited that I can't start a good credit score with it at all. So I'm excited to get the new one. Not that I'm gonna go crazy spending on it. but I got to pic out the design on it and it should be sweet! Still waitin to hear back from them whether I'm approved or not so we'll see I guess. It'll be good tho.

Anybody watch the Mole? I got addicted the first week. I was addicted like the first season ever and then they took it off the air for like 3 years and now it's back! That's what I do on monday nights...so you can guess what I'll be doin in 2 hours. I haven't figured out who the mole is yet. The only two who seemed suspicious were kicked off last week..so screw that idea. O well, I'm sure none of you guys even watch it so I'm probably talking with myself on this one.

Workin in Albertville tomorrow. For those of you who don't know where that is it is like an hour and 45 minutes away. It's probably the best shopping if you don't want to drive to the mall of America because it has a huge outlet mall. Seriously that's like all that is in the town. An outlet mall, a caribou coffee and a culvers. Then it's like corn fields. But either way I'm doing a tile job there tomorrow and wednesday..might even be spending the night there who knows.

Back to finishing up homework...

Let's try this again

So pretty sure I haven't written on here in..a year? I didn't even check. O well, I know it's been a LONG time. but a few of my friends have started theirs up and since we're not together over the summer, :( , I decided to join in on the fun.

So right now I should be working on homework. Seriously, work and homework are ruling my life a lot of the time right now. It sucks big time. But I still have my chance of fun here and there which is good. Tomorrow I've got the day off of work to write a paper for one of my online classes. It's gonna be an intense paper I think..which SUCKS. but all day to write it will be good. I'm playin tennis in the morning and mowing the lawn somewhere in there too ha.

My job for the summer is laying carpet with my dad. It sucks at times because I get exhausted, but I can't complain one bit. It's great pay, fun people to work with, I can get a day off whenever I need one, and I get to spend the summer with my dad. That's been sweet. My dad and I have never really been the closest. It's not like we've had a bad relationship or anything but this summer has been so fun so far hanging out with him. I'm SO thankful for the time that I'm getting with him. Sweet stuff:)

We went golfing today. I honestly haven't been golfing in probably 3 years? something like that. And it was suprisingly better than I thought it would be! we went to the driving range on friday to warm up and get ready and that was a BAD day. haha. but ya. my best hole of the day was the 8th..which was actually the third hole we played..long story ha. But Anyway we're coming up to the tee and my dad was like, I have NEVER parred this hole. it was a par 4 by the way. And guess what?! I got it in 4! haha. pretty sure the rest of the day wasn't the hottest but way better than I expected. So yah, that's gonna be like our weekly ritual if we don't have anything else going on. I'm pumped:) for the 8 weeks we have left anyway. Summer is a third over! AH! But that makes me excited too cuz I can't WAIT to go back to school! AHHH!!

Anyway..I AM going to do homework now.

Peace out.

Gettin the ball rolling again

For some odd reason I have the desire to start this blog again. I have no idea why. Maybe because I've been checking my brothers lately and have been inspired? Either way, I'm starting it up again. We'll see how long this will continue but today is a new day, so I'll at least give it a shot. The weather in sunny california is not so sunny today and not gonna lie, I love it. Yesterday it was cloudy too. I think I'm going to start getting used to this which will set me up for disappointment in the long run. Just as I wrote that, the sun broke through the clouds. O well, still jeans and sweatshirt weather. My favorite. I'm not complaining.

So I feel like I can talk about this one here since no one will be reading this blog until at least I start telling people it's up again. But I get to go home tonight! And I'm surprising EVERYONE! well, pretty much everyone. But still. I'm SO incredibly excited. We'll see how it goes waking up my parents at 3 o clock in the morning to get into my house. But I'm still looking forward to it and the week ahead. Tomorrow night there's a football game which I've been waiting all fall. Then Thursday is the girls championship soccer game which I can't WAIT to go to . Wow it's gonna be a sweet time at home. It's weird that I've already been gone for liek 2 months. Doesn't feel like it at all. Time has flown.

Well, I'm gonna go check my mail. I don't want to be too ambitious with this my first day back writing.

Slacker

I guess I've been slacking with this whole Blog thing. I haven't written in like 14 days or something like..2 weeks I guess. I haven't really had a chance to sit down during my open hour lately and just chill so I decided that this would be a good day to do just that.

Our last regular season basketball game in tomorrow night. I'm not gonna lie..usually at this point in the season I'm ready for it to be done. But this year is different for some reason. I'm going to be really sad when it's done and I'm liking more this year than any year yet. Which is a great thing for a senior year. Senior night was on tuesday and it was great. Probably the most fun I've had at a game in a long time. We broke the 80 pts in a game mark..that was one of our goals. So that was good. Tomorrow is parents night as well so we will probably be pretty pumped to win that one. Our first play off game is next Tuesday and hopefully it will be at home..the first time our girls team has had a home play off game in a long time. Should be fun.

My brother comes home soon. I dno't know the exact date..and I don't even know how much i'll get to see him..but I'm still excited. He's bringing a bunch of his friends up to stay at my aunt and uncles cabin for a week or something. Should be a good time for them and hopefully I'll be able to hang out with them some as well...if he lets me that is.

I leave for California in 22 days and counting...I honestly don't think time could go by fast enough...but I also realize that there is a lot of stuff going on between now and then that will make the time go by as fast as possible. Man, I can't wait. And a perk of finally going soemwhere warm over spring break..is I'll come back tan. But I guarentee I won't stick outin our school when we come back the next week..since half the school will be just as tan as me...

Cheap Lunch

I'm sad today because my open hour buddy, Megan Kummet, is no where to be seen. She wasn't in first hour either which probably means she 's gone today. I'll probably spend most of my hour on this computer looking at this and that. I just got back from Sport Boosters. The whole varsity basketball team went with Henny today to fill everyone in on our team for the year. For those of you who have never been to a sports boosters meeting..let me explain it to you. You come in and get your food..which is always iffy or not wheather you will be able to eat it..and then you sit down at a round table and you're surrounded by a bunch of men either in Business suites or brainerd warrior apparel. They introduce the athlete of the week and talk about how amazing he or she is..and then the next 45 minutes are taken up by a coach telling all about the team and their season. Let me tell you..too exciting for me. Ha. I would actually consider going if I was an older adult..but the cost of lunch is 7.50...and definitely not worth that. But since it was free for me I will relish in the fact that I got to go. Although today will be my 3rd and final sports boosters.. I might shed a tear.

I think that's all for now..Girls hockey play off game tonight. I hope they win..otherwise they're done.

A day to be remembered

Pretty sure I never thought I would say that I am thankful for the cold weather today. I woke up to my mom tell me that school was two hours late. Probably the greatest days of the year when that happens..even though it's about once in a blue moon. So I got an extra two hours of much needed sleep. I probably should have gotten up this morning and read Government, but I decided that hey, I get a chance to sleep in.. I'm going to take it. I got to school and found out we were watching a movie in my 3rd hour. I questioned at that point whether or not today was a day I should have actually gone to school. I decided to shake that thought off and continue on with my day. My schedule after that was lunch..and then band..which is band..open 5th..and next I have Geography..which I found out we are watching a movie in there too. So all in all my day has consisted of two movies, lunch and a trip to Caribou. I guess I'll have to be content with it.

I did inventory at Steve and Barry's on Saturday night. Although I don't work there anymore they called me up and asked if I would work just for the night. After getting there I realized that I do miss it..and by the end of the night I had been offered a job again. I'm thinking of taking it. I know I don't have all the time in the world..but it woudl be nice to have a source of income before I start my summer job. I neeed to take any opportunity for money that I can get since I will most likely be in debt the rest of my life. That's what I'm realizing anyway. The downside of going to a private college....

Well, I think I'm gonna go finish off my exciting day at good ol BHS...

Later..

Into a New World

So after many days of joining Megan Kummet in the library and searching through other peoples blogs I have decided to finally branch out into the 21st century and get one of my own. I haven't really figured out the point of these as of yet and I also wasn't planning on getting one until I went off to college. My brother has a blog and it's nice to know what's going on in his life by looking at it. But I've decided that since I don't have anything else to do..I'm starting today. My choice was to either do this..or to join the 5th hour AP STATS class. I usually wouldn't mind doing this..however, today we have a sub. No one really knows her name, but she is definitely not a favorite at Brainerd High School. Megan Kummet and Ashely Olson attempted to go and get Ashley's ipod out of her locker today so they would have some sort of entertainment..only to be stopped by the nameless substitute. Usually I would understand this..excpet that three other people in the class were already "jammin on an ipod"....Kummet would not be held back though..she attempted once again, but this time hid her excuse to go to her locker with saying she needed her other notebook. The sub wouldn't have it. She saw straight through her lies. Megan got to go, but was warned that if she came back with an ipod there would be severe consequences. She came back..and did indeed have the ipod..unbeknownst to the sub. The sub then continued to stare her and ashley down for the rest of the hour...given Kummet no chance to enjoy the music of High School Musical. What a shame.I should probably go work on that Stats that I didn't get done during 1st hour...but who knows..is 2 homework points really worth doing 4 pages of work? Tough choice..That's all for now...
